Check age, stairs and photography before booking

Children aged 10 and under cannot join the historic-library guided tours. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Standard tour groups are limited to 14 people.

Duke Humfrey’s Library is reached only by stairs and has no lift. The Divinity School and Weston Library public areas have step-free access. Contact tours@bodleian.ox.ac.uk before booking when step-free access or another adjustment is essential. Photography is not permitted inside the Radcliffe Camera.

Match each filming connection to the right room

Duke Humfrey’s Library was used as the Hogwarts library, while the Divinity School became the Hogwarts infirmary. These are separate spaces with different access. A 30- or 60-minute official library tour can reach Duke Humfrey’s. The Divinity School may also be available as a visit or as part of another listed format.

Use the Bodleian filming page and the Oxford filming-locations guide to keep documented sets separate from places that only inspired the films.

Book the interior you cannot substitute

If the Radcliffe Camera or Duke Humfrey’s Library is the main reason for visiting, secure the official format that names it. The Old Library and Radcliffe Camera are working libraries and cannot be entered independently as tourist attractions.

The 30-minute tour releases some tickets in advance and keeps some for same-day sale. The 60-minute and Radcliffe Camera formats require online booking. Closures for University business can still affect the schedule. Use the college visiting guide for the separate access rules beyond the library.

Combine the library with the right walk

A broad University walk can explain the Bodleian quarter from outside. A Potter route can interpret filming connections. An official library tour controls interior access. Put the most time-sensitive booking first, then fit the walking tour around it.
